Shadeweave Privacy Policy

Shadeweave is an intelligent dark-mode browser extension. This privacy policy explains what the extension accesses and how that information is used.

What Shadeweave accesses

To provide dark-mode functionality, Shadeweave runs locally on normal HTTP and HTTPS webpages. It may access:

• the current website's hostname and basic tab information so the popup can identify the site and remember site-specific appearance preferences;
• webpage presentation information, including computed colors, backgrounds, borders, gradients, text presence, interface structure, accessible SVG colors, and dynamic page changes, so the page can be rethemed;
• whether a page appears to already use a native dark theme;
• locally stored Shadeweave settings such as global enabled state, palette, transformation intensity, onboarding state, and per-site mode or palette preferences.

Shadeweave does not need the contents of personal messages, form values, passwords, payment information, or other sensitive fields for its purpose, and it does not intentionally collect or store those values.

Local processing

Shadeweave's page analysis and color transformation occur locally in your browser. Shadeweave does not upload webpage content for processing.

Data storage

Shadeweave uses Chrome's local extension storage to remember settings. Per-site preferences may be keyed by the website hostname so Shadeweave can remember whether you selected Auto, Always Dark, Original, or a site-specific palette.

Data transmission and sharing

Shadeweave does not operate a backend service and does not transmit browsing activity, webpage content, or extension settings to the developer or to third-party analytics services.

Shadeweave does not sell user data. Shadeweave does not use user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to its dark-mode functionality.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Shadeweave contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, behavioral tracking, fingerprinting, or telemetry service.

Remote code

Shadeweave does not download or execute remote code. Executable extension code is packaged with the extension.

Permissions

Shadeweave requests access to normal HTTP and HTTPS webpages because automatic dark mode must analyze and restyle the websites you visit. It also uses Chrome storage to remember settings, and active-tab/scripting capabilities to reconnect its packaged local engine to the tab you explicitly open the Shadeweave popup on when needed.

Chrome protects certain browser pages, including many chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store, from extension modification. Shadeweave cannot style those protected pages.

Data retention and deletion

Locally stored extension settings remain in Chrome extension storage until changed, reset, or removed. Uninstalling Shadeweave removes the extension's Chrome-managed local storage according to Chrome's extension behavior.

Children's privacy

Shadeweave does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

Changes to this policy

If Shadeweave's data practices materially change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before or alongside the relevant extension update.
